Bullet Cameras

Bullet or lipstick cameras get their name because of their slim shape. They are a nice compromise between a fixed camera and a dome model. They are small and unobtrusive and are perfect for business and residential settings. They are primarily used indoors, but manufactures do offer outdoor models too.

Bullets are nice in that you don't have to worry about buying a lens, like you have to with some fixed camera models. Where bullets come up short is there variation of focal length. Most Bullet cameras have a fixed focal length generally at a wide angle. This can also be viewed as a benefit depending on the circumstance.

Some models have a ring of LED's encircling the lens. This helps the bullet camera to "see" better in low light situations.

There is also something called a pinhole bullet camera. It's used mostly in covert security as the body of the camera is concealed behind drywall or something and the pin hole is the only visible (or invisible hopefully) portion exposed.
